About the Filmmaker

Allen Phillips was raised in the woods of Bowie County, Texas, where his family has operated a sawmill for over fifty years. His childhood was spent building forts in the forest, making films with a beta camera, and spending time in his aunt’s art studio. Eventually, Allen moved to Austin to go to college and pursue a career in film, working on several major motion pictures, documentaries, and music videos.

Allen’s other creative interest is architecture and he received a fellowship to study at the Rhode Island School of Design. He graduated in 2010 with a Master of Architecture degree. After graduation, he returned to Bowie County, which he feels is the center of his creative drive. He continues to pursue his interests in film and architecture.
